July 7 – The Middlebury College data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by recent third party cyber security attacks through their vendors. The Middlebury College data breach resulted in the confidential information of certain students and employees being compromised.
According to a notice posted on their website, Middlebury College reported a data breach after they were affected by recent third party cyber security attacks through their vendors, the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (“TIAA”) and the National Student Clearinghouse (“NSC”). Middlebury College gave both NSC and TIAA confidential information related to students, faculty and staff. These vendors used the MOVEit file-transfer software that was recently discovered to contain a vulnerability that allowed hackers to access information stored within the platform. It is important to note that the data breach did not affect Middlebury’s computer systems so any data breach letters sent out may be done by the vendors: Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (“TIAA”) and the National Student Clearinghouse (“NSC”).
