On April 12, 2023, Middlefield Bank detected a possible data security incident impacting some of the company’s computer systems. This prompted the company to launch an investigation confirming that an unauthorized party was able to access files on its IT network between April 11, 2023 and April 12, 2023. Middlefield Bank also determined that the unauthorized party was able to access some files containing confidential information belonging to certain employees and customers. On December 21, 2023,, Middlefield Bank sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
