July 3 – The Mount Desert Island Hospital data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Mount Desert Island Hospital data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, financial account information, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, state identification numbers, and protected health information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 24,180 individuals.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights and a notice posted on the company’s website, Mount Desert Island Hospital reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On May 4, 2023, MDIH detected unusual activity within its computer network. The company launched an investigation and determined that an unauthorized party was able to gain access to portions of the company’s IT network that contained confidential patient data between April 28, 2023 and May 7, 2023.
