July 7 – The National Institutes of Health Federal Credit Union (“NIHFCU”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The NIHFCU data breach resulted in the names and Social Security numbers of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 14,706 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, National Institutes of Health Federal Credit Union reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. NIHFCU learned that an unauthorized party was able to gain access to an employee’s email account. The company launched an investigation and learnt that the employee’s email account was accessed by the unauthorized party for a few hours on April 11, 2023. On July 5, 2023, NIHFCU sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
