September 12 – The Northfield Bank data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. are investigating the data breach that was reported after the Northfield Bank was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Northfield Bank data breach may have resulted in the Social Security numbers, names, and account information of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the company’s filing with the Attorney General of Vermont, Northfield Bank reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent ransomware attack. Ransomware group Clop exploited a day one vulnerability in the MOVEit file transfer tool to compromise vast quantities of data between May 27th and May 31st, 2023.
This impacted Northfield Bank’s vendors, which informed them of the leak on August 4th, 2023. Since then, Northfield Bank has been reviewing the impacted files to ascertain what information was stolen and who was affected. While it’s not yet certain, the leaked information may include names, Social Security numbers, and financial account information.
On September 8th, Northfield Bank sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach. These detail the information stolen and provide an offer of Kroll identity protection services.
