April 13 – The data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. are investigating the OraSure Technologies (“OraSure”) data breach that was reported after the OraSure was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. What Happened?

According to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the OraSure data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cybersecurity attack. OraSure detected this attack on March 27th, 2024, which prompted it to notify law enforcement and begin an investigation.

While the OraSure data breach investigation confirmed that hackers stole information from the company’s network by April 12, 2024, the investigation remains ongoing. It is not yet known what kinds of data the hackers stole, or how many victims there are.

Once OraSure completes its investigation, the company should send out data breach letters to each victim, detailing how they’ve been impacted.
