According to the Attorney General of Montana, the Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack on November 13, 2023. PCLI detected suspicious activity within its IT network prompting them to secure their network and launch an investigation. It was confirmed that an unauthorized party gained access to certain PCLI systems between November 13, 2023 and November 14, 2023, including files containing confidential patient information. On March 1, 2024, Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute is an eye care provider based out of Chehalis, Washington that operates 17 locations in six 
states, including Alaska, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, and Washington.
