The leak impacted 167,103 individuals, The Pacific Guardian Life Insurance data breach compromised the following types of information:

What Happened?

According to the Attorney General of Maine, the Pacific Guardian Life Insurance data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. They first detected an issue on September 5, 2023, after noticing suspicious activity on the company’s email system. From September 2023 to March 5, 2024, the PGL data breach investigation sought to identify the scope of the breach.

In the end, PGL had confirmed that the hackers had access to the names, Social Security numbers, and financial account information on their system. The data breach had more than 160,000 victims.

On April 4, 2024, Pacific Guardian Life Insurance sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
