October 6 – The Pathward, N.A. data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Pathward, N.A. data breach resulted in the names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, and credit card information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 793,626 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Pathward, N.A. reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. Pathward is the company that issues H&R Block Emerald Cards. However, once Pathward issues the card, Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. (“Fidelity”) services the account. However, Fidelity used the MOVEit file-transfer software. Progress Software, the developer of MOVEit, announced a critical vulnerability that allowed hackers to access data stored within MOVEit servers, including the company that serviced Emerald Cards. Fidelity National Information Services launched an investigation, confirming that confidential consumer data was accessible to the unauthorized party. On September 27, 2023, Emerald Card sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
