September 28 – The PHH Mortgage Corporation (“PHH”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The PHH Mortgage data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth and addresses of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the Attorney General of Texas, PHH Mortgage reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. Their filing provides little information on what led up to the breach. However, we know that after learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, a review of the leaked data confirmed that some information belonging to PHH customers was compromised. According to the PHH notice on the TX AG’s website, there were 8,073 people affected in Texas alone. It remains to be seen how many victims there were nationwide. On September 27, 2023, PHH Mortgage sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
