June 10 – The Pioneer Valley Ophthalmic Consultants, PC data breach is being investigated by the data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. The data breach was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cybersecurity attack. The Pioneer Valley Ophthalmic Consultants data breach resulted in the names, addresses, email addresses, Social Security numbers, payment card information, and medical records of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 36,275 individuals.
According to the Vermont Attorney General, Pioneer Valley Ophthalmic Consultants, PC reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The company learned on March 3, 2022, that the company’s vendor, Alta Medical Management, experienced two different data security incidents, each of which compromised confidential information relating to Pioneer Valley Ophthalmic Consultants, PC patients. Alta Medical Management experienced a breach between November 13, 2021 and November 15, 2021 and in another incident, Alta’s online patient portal was vulnerable until October 26, 2021. On May 22, 2023, Pioneer Valley Ophthalmic Consultants, PC sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
