September 23 – The Singing River Health (“SRHS”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. It’s unknown if the breach resulted in the theft of personal data, or how many people it may have affected.
According to a post on the company’s website, Singing River Health reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber attack. This was discovered on August 19, 2023, at which point the company began an investigation. This revealed that the attack was “sophisticated and malicious” in nature and that the investigation is quite challenging.
On August 31, 2023, Singing River posted a second notice explaining the progress of the investigation. While no data breach letters have been sent yet, the company will be required to inform victims under federal law if the investigation reveals their data was stolen.
Singing River Health System has operated as a Mississippi healthcare system for close to a century. Today, it consists of three hospitals: Pascagoula Hospital, Ocean Springs Hospital, and Gulfport Hospital. SRHS also operates dozens of other, smaller medical facilities, such as community medical parks and primary care clinics. The system has more than 2,200 employees and an annual revenue of approximately $367 million.
