According to the Attorney General of Montana, the Sirius Federal data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On August 2, 2023, Sirius Federal detected unusual activity within its IT network prompting them to secure their systems and launch an investigation confirming that an unauthorized party had gained access to its IT environment between July 31, 2023, and August 2, 2023, including files containing confidential consumer information. On January 19, 2024, Sirius Federal sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
Sirius Federal is a business services and IT company based out of Crofton, Maryland that is a subsidiary of CDW-G, a large provider of technology solutions to the government, education, and 
healthcare industries. Sirius Federal was previously known as Force 3 but changed its name in 2021.
