February 9 – The data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. are investigating the South Bend Clinic data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack at Perry Johnson & Associates (“PJ&A”). The South Bend Clinic data breach resulted in the below information of certain individuals being compromised:

  • names,
  • dates of birth,
  • addresses,
  • genders,
  • medical record numbers,
  • and clinical information

What Happened?

According to a notice posted on their website and the Attorney General of California, the South Bend Clinic data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack at Perry Johnson & Associates (“PJ&A”). On May 2, 2023, PJ&A detected suspicious activity within its computer network prompting them to launch an investigation. On May 22, 2023, it was confirmed that unauthorized activity occurred within its network. PJ&A provided preliminary notice of the incident to The South Bend Clinic on September 11, 2023. Once the investigation was completed on December 22, 2023, it was determined that an unauthorized party accessed PJ&A systems between March 27, 2023, and May 2, 2023. The unauthorized actor was able to access personal health information belonging to patients of The South Bend Clinic between April 7, 2023, and April 19, 2023. On February 5, 2024, South Bend Clinic sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
