June 23 – The SoutheastHEALTH data breach is being investigated by the data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. The data breach was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at IntelliHartx, LLC (ITx). The SoutheastHEALTH data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, and protected health information of certain individuals being compromised. It is still unclear how many individuals were affected by the breach.
According to a notice posted on the company’s website, SoutheastHEALTH reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. Due to a vulnerability in the GoAnywhere found on February 2, 2023, a file transfer program developed by Fortra, LLC, an unauthorized party was able to gain access to ITx files. On June 9, 2023, ITx sent out data breach letters on behalf of to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach. On June 22, 2023, SoutheastHEALTH posted a notice on its website indicating that the ITX did not provide SoutheastHEALTH with notice of the breach, as required by HIPAA, and that “SoutheastHEALTH has no current business relationship with this vendor.”
