July 14 – The Sovos Compliance LLC data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Progress Software. The Sovos Compliance data breach resulted in the names and Social Security numbers of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 18,513 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Sovos Compliance reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Progress Software. Sovos uses the MOVEit file-transfer software, developed by Progress Software, to deliver unclaimed property services to its clients. On May 31, 2023, Progress Software, announced a previously unknown vulnerability in its MOVEit product which may have allowed unauthorized parties to access and download information in certain companies’ MOVEit servers. Sovos determined that unauthorized actors exploited the MOVEit vulnerability to download a file containing confidential information that had been provided to Sovos. On July 12, 2023, Sovos Compliance sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
