August 4 – The T. Rowe Price Retirement Plan Services, Inc. (“TRP”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Pension Benefit Information, LLC. The T. Rowe Price Retirement Plan Services data breach resulted in the sensitive information of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the Attorney General of Montana, T. Rowe Price Retirement Plan Services reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Pension Benefit Information, LLC. PBI performs certain services as a vendor for T. Rowe Price Retirement Plan Services which requires PBI to use the MOVEit file transfer program to transfer certain information, some of which is confidential. On approximately May 31, 2023, the developer of MOVEit confirmed that the software contained a critical vulnerability. This vulnerability, if exploited, allowed unauthorized parties to access MOVEit servers belonging to companies that use the product. PBI’s MOVEit server was one of those that was accessed by an unauthorized party. On July 27, 2023, T. Rowe Price Retirement Plan Services sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
