September 12 – The Texas Medical Liability Trust (“TMLT”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C., are investigating the data breach that resulted as the company suffered a cyber security attack. The Texas Medical Liability Trust data breach resulted in the loss of the names and Social Security numbers of up to 59,000 people.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Texas Medical Liability Trust reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The breach occurred on November 2nd, 2022, and the company discovered it on December 12th, 2022.
As the TMLT data breach investigation has revealed the full scope of the breach, the company has issued two data breach notifications. The first came on March 21st, 2023 while the company followed up with another on September 11th, 2023.
On each of these dates, the Texas Medical Liability Trust sent out data breach letters to the victims of the breach. These letters inform the victims of their stolen data and offer complimentary identity protection services.
The Texas Medical Liability Trust has provided medical malpractice insurance for Texas physicians since 1979. Likewise, the organization provides continuing medical education (CME) to members. The TMLT is a self-insured trust that elects a group of physicians to the Board of Governors, who manage and lead it. More than 127 people work as part of the TMLT, and it generates an annual revenue of roughly $20 million
