July 25 – The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack. The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, dates of birth, names of medication, dosages of medication and prescribing providers of certain individuals being compromised.
According to various news outlets, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent third party cyber security attack. On May 30, 2023, UTSW was notified that an unauthorized party was able to exploit a previously unknown vulnerability within the MOVEit file transfer application. Once hackers exploited the vulnerability, they were able to access information stored on the hospital’s MOVEit server. UT Southwestern launched an investigation to determine what information was affected. On July 20, 2023, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
