August 3 – The Transamerica Life Insurance Company data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Pension Benefit Information, LLC. The Transamerica Life Insurance Company data breach resulted in the confidential information of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the Attorney General of Montana, Transamerica Life Insurance Company reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Pension Benefit Information, LLC. PBI provides audit and address research services for Transamerica Life. PBI uses the MOVEit file-transfer program created by Progress Software. In late May, the developers of MOVEit discovered a critical vulnerability allowing unauthorized parties to access information stored on customers’ MOVEit servers. PBI’s MOVEit server was affected when hackers exploited the vulnerability and accessed the company’s MOVEit server. Because Transamerica Life provides confidential customer data to PBI, which was stored on PBI’s MOVEit server, the incident affected certain Transamerica Life customers. On July 26, 2023, Pension Benefit Information sent out data breach letters on behalf of Transamerica Life Insurance Company to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
