July 7 – The Trinity College data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent cyber security attack. The Trinity College data breach resulted in the confidential information of certain Trinity students and employees being compromised.
According to a notice posted on their website, Trinity College reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. Trinity College works with two service providers: the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association and the National Student Clearinghouse. The College gave both NSC and TIAA information: Trinity gave TIAA information related to employees and NSC information related to students. TIAA and NSC used a file-transfer software called MOVEit, which was created by Progress Software, LLC.
In June 2023, Progress Software, LLC, announced a vulnerability affecting the MOVEit software that allowed unauthorized parties to access information that was transferred or stored on the platform. Both TIAA and NSC used MOVEit to transfer data provided by Trinity College, each of these companies informed Trinity College that certain information belonging to students, staff members and faculty members may have been accessible to an unauthorized party. If data breach letters are sent out to affected individuals, they will likely come from Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association and the National Student Clearinghouse.
