June 20 – The Umpqua Bank data breach is being investigated by the data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. The data breach was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Progress Software. At this time, the compromised data types and number of affected individuals for the Umpqua Bank data breach is still unknown.
According to comments made by a company spokesperson to various news outlets, Umpqua Bank reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent cyber security attack at Progress Software. The representative stated that the company was one of many government agencies, large corporations and other enterprises affected by the MOVEit file transfer vulnerability. It is to be noted that the vulnerability did not affect the networks of the companies but rather the data that was inputted into the program. The investigation is still ongoing, so Umpqua Bank has not yet sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
