July 28 – The UnitedHealthcare Student Resources data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Progress Software. The UnitedHealthcare Student Resources data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, health insurance information, student identification numbers, protected health information and financial information of certain individuals being compromised.
According to a notice posted on their website, UnitedHealthcare Student Resources reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Progress Software. Student Resources uses the MOVEit secure file transfer application, created by Progress Software. On May 31, 2023, Progress Software announced it discovered a previously unknown vulnerability in MOVEit that could allow an unauthorized third party to access files sent with the software. Student Resources launched an investigation and confirmed that an unauthorized third party was able to access certain systems and remove copies of personal information from the organization’s MOVEit server on May 27, 2023. On July 21, 2023, UnitedHealthcare Student Resources sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
