July 11 – The University of Dayton data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at National Student Clearinghouse (“NSC”) and the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (“TIAA”). The University of Dayton data breach resulted in the sensitive information belonging to students and former faculty members being compromised.
According to a notice posted on their website, University of Dayton reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. Both the National Student Clearinghouse and the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association informed the University of Dayton that confidential information they provided was subject to unauthorized access due to their use of the MOVEit file transfer software. In late May 2023, Progress Software identified a zero-day vulnerability within MOVEit which allowed unauthorized parties to access information contained within the program. University of Dayton will send out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach once the investigation is completed.
