October 11 – The West Texas Gas (“WTG”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The West Texas Gas data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers and other personal information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 56,587 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, West Texas Gas reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. In May 2023, WTG detected suspicious activity within its computer system. The company launched an investigation and determined that an unauthorized party was able to access its systems, copy certain files, and delete other files. It was also determined that some of the files that were accessible contained confidential consumer information. On October 9, 2023, West Texas Gas sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
