According to the Attorney General of Maine, the Asbury Automotive Group data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On December 25, 2023, the company identified suspicious activity within its computer network where an unauthorized party had gained access to portions of the company’s computer network. Asbury Auto launched an investigation that confirmed that the unauthorized party was able to access portions of its network on December 25, 2023, including files containing confidential consumer information. On April 24, 2024, Asbury Automotive Group sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
