August 23 – The Advance America Cash Advance Centers of Montana, Inc. and Advance America Cash Advance Centers of Vermont, Inc. (collectively, “Advance America”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Advance America data breach resulted in the sensitive information of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the Attorney General of Montana, Advance America reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On February 7, 2023, Advance America experienced a temporary outage affecting its computer network. The company launched an investigation to learn more about the incident and what, if any, consumer information was compromised as a result.
The Advance America investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access and possibly acquire information from the company’s computer network. It was later determined that some of these files contained confidential consumer information. On August 15, 2023, Advance America sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
