May 13, 2022 – McKenzie Health System reported a data breach after the company was targeted in a recent cybersecurity attack. As a result of the breach, names, contact information, demographic information, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical/treatment information and/or health insurance information of certain individuals were compromised. The McKenzie Health System data breach is believed to have impacted as many as 25,318 individuals. On May 10, 2022, McKenzie Health sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.

McKenzie Health posted the following Notice of Data Security Incident on their website:
McKenzie Health System is committed to protecting the security and privacy of the information we maintain. On May 10, 2022, we began mailing notification letters to individuals whose information may have been involved in a security incident that disrupted the operations of some of our IT systems.
We first identified the incident on March 11, 2022, and immediately took steps to secure our systems, launched an investigation with the assistance of a third-party forensic investigator, and notified law enforcement. The investigation determined that an unauthorized party accessed our systems and removed some files. We then initiated a review and analysis of those files to determine what information they contained.
On April 22, 2022, through our ongoing analysis of the files involved in the incident, we determined that the files contained information belonging to some McKenzie Health System patients, including names, contact information, demographic information, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, diagnosis and treatment information, prescription information, medical record numbers, provider names, dates of service, and/or health insurance information.
For patients whose information may have been involved in the incident, we recommend that they review the statements they receive from their healthcare providers and contact the relevant provider immediately if they see services they did not receive. Additionally, for patients whose Social Security numbers may have been involved, we are offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through Experian.
We take this incident very seriously and sincerely regret any concern it may cause. To help prevent something like this from happening again, we have implemented additional safeguards and technical security measures to further protect and monitor our systems. A dedicated call center has been established to answer questions about this incident, which can be reached at (855) 788-2392, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Central Time.
