Data Breach AlertMay 27, 2022 – Albany Bank & Trust Co. N.A. (“Albank”) reported a data breach after the company was targeted in a recent cybersecurity attack. As a result of the breach, the private information of certain individuals was compromised. On May 19, 2022, Albank sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the incident.

Albany Bank & Trust Co. N.A. (“Albank”) is contacting you to notify you of an incident that may affect some of your personal information. We have no evidence that your information has been used to commit identity theft or fraud. We are providing you with this notice to make you aware of the incident, the steps we are taking in response, and steps you may take to help protect your personal information, should you feel it is appropriate to do so.

What Happened? On or about February 4, 2022, Albank became aware of suspicious activity on our computer network. Following this, we immediately commenced an investigation to secure our systems and determine the nature and scope of the incident. As a result of the investigation, we learned that certain information was obtained without authorization. On April 19, 2022, we concluded the investigation and determined that we could not rule out that certain personal information may have been impacted. Albank then began working to identify the full scope of information that could have been impacted. On May 5, 2022, we concluded our review and determined the identities of potentially impacted individuals. As stated above, we are unaware of any identity theft or fraud occurring as a result of this incident, and Albank has taken steps to prevent further access to your personal information by unauthorized individuals.

What Information Was Involved? This incident may have impacted the following types of your information: your name, address, phone number, email, <<variable 2>>. This incident did not involve any unauthorized access to any client funds.

What We Are Doing. We take this incident and the security of personal information entrusted to us very seriously. Upon discovering this incident, we took immediate steps to secure our environment and investigate the incident. We notified federal law enforcement and industry regulators as required. As an added precaution, we are offering you complimentary access to <<variable 3>> months of credit monitoring services, through IDX. You will need to enroll yourself in these services if you wish to do so, as we are not able to activate them on your behalf. Please review the instructions contained in the attached Steps You Can Take to Protect Your Information for additional detail on these services.

What You Can Do. Receiving this letter does not mean you are a victim of identity theft. We also encourage you to review the enclosed Steps You Can Take to Protect Personal Information and enroll in the credit monitoring services we are offering. In addition, we encourage you to promptly report any suspected incidents of identity theft to local law enforcement, the Federal Trade Commission, and/or your state Attorney General.
