What Happened? On Sunday, May 1st, 2022, Optoma Technology, Inc. detected unusual activity on certain IT systems. We quickly disconnected these systems from our network and began an investigation. Although this investigation is on-going, we currently understand that we are the victim of a ransomware attack and that unauthorized access occurred between April 21st and May 1st, 2022.

Our investigation is working to identify the data impacted, if any, with particular focus on identifying the individuals impacted. While the nature and extent of the incident are still under investigation, including whether your personal data has been accessed or acquired, in an abundance of caution, we wanted to notify you of the event prior to the investigation’s completion so that you may be aware of the event, and take steps to monitor and protect your personal information.

What Information Was Involved? We generally store the following kinds of information on our systems related to employees: name, Social Security number, driver’s license or state identification number, government issued identification card, financial account information or payment information, health insurance information, username and password. Upon discovering this incident, we investigated and responded to the incident, and are reviewing and enhancing our existing policies and procedures to reduce the likelihood of a similar future event. We have reported this incident to federal law enforcement and are notifying all potentially affected individuals and relevant state regulators as required.

Moreover, as an added precaution, we are offering complimentary access to credit monitoring and identity restoration services to you for 24 months through Equifax because your information may have been present in the systems accessed during the incident.

What You Can Do. We encourage you to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud. Be wary of unknown callers, emails or text messages, regularly review your bank and pension accounts for unusual activity and explanation of benefits and review your free credit reports for suspicious activity.
