May 3, 2022 – Recently, Valley View Hospital Association reported a data breach after an unauthorized party was able to gain access to sensitive consumer information stored on the company’s computer servers. As a result of the breach, the names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, and medical information of certain individuals were compromised. On April 28, 2022, Valley View Hospital Association sent out data breach letters to those whose information was affected by the breach.

According to an official filed by the company, on January 19, 2022, Valley View Hospital learned of a data security incident affecting its computer system. Evidently, the incident involved an unauthorized user gaining access to four employee email accounts. Valley View did not explain how access to the employees’ email accounts was obtained.
In response, the company secured its computer systems and launched an investigation to learn more about the nature and scope of the incident. Subsequently, Valley View confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access and potentially remove sensitive files from the company’s network.
Upon learning of the unauthorized access, Valley View then sought to identify whether any parties’ sensitive information was contained in the affected files. On March 29, 2022, the company completed its review of the compromised files. While the breached information varies based on the individual, it may include your name, Social Security number, birth date, and medical information.
On April 28, 2022, Valley View issued data breach letters to those whose information was compromised in the breach.
