October 10 – The Walmart, Inc. data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Walmart data breach resulted in the protected health information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 85,952 individuals.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights, Walmart reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. Walmart learned that sensitive consumer data was accessed by an unauthorized party. The company reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. However, because Walmart does not appear to have made the leaked data types publicly available, it is unclear exactly what information was accessible to an unauthorized party. On October 4, 2023, Walmart sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
Walmart, Inc. is a retail supermarket chain based out of Bentonville, Arkansas. Walmart operates through three different segments: Walmart U.S., Walmart International, and Sam’s Club. Walmart maintains 210 distribution centers through which the company distributes its merchandise.
