August 22 – The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD data breach resulted in the names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, health insurance information, and protected health information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 599,000 individuals.
According to a notice posted on their website, Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On June 30, 2023, the Harris Center learned that unauthorized parties exploited a vulnerability in MOVEit, giving the hackers access to one of the Harris Center’s vendor’s MOVEit systems. In response, the Harris Center worked with its vendor to investigate the incident. The investigation confirmed that unauthorized parties were able to access certain documents belonging to the Harris Center. It was later determined that some of these documents contained confidential patient information. However, at no time did any unauthorized party gain access to the Harris Center’s own computer system; all compromised information was stored on the vendor’s MOVEit system. On August 17, 2023, Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
