November 29 – The Henry Schein, Inc. data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The initial data breach that was announced by the company on October 15, 2023 affected bank account numbers, credit card numbers and other sensitive information of certain individuals. However, on November 22, 2023, Henry Schein, Inc. posted a notice on its website regarding another recent cyber attack. This is the second time in the past two months that the company has fallen victim to a cyber attack. At this time, it is unclear if the second data breach affected consumer information.
According to a notice posted on their website, Henry Schein reported a data breach after they were targeted in a cyber security attack. On October 14, 2023, Henry Schein determined that some of its manufacturing and distribution businesses had been the target of a cyberattack. The company reported the incident to law enforcement and took steps to contain the incident. Henry Schein also enlisted the help of third-party cybersecurity and forensic information technology experts to determine if any confidential information stored on its computer network was subject to unauthorized access. On November 21, 2023, Henry Schein sent out data breach letters to those individuals who were affected.
Shortly after, the company experienced seemingly another cyber attack and the company posted another website notice on November 22, 2023. The notice explained that certain systems were unavailable and that it was taking orders through alternate means. Henry Schein noted that “the threat actor from the previously disclosed cyber incident has claimed responsibility.” The second cyberattack is still under investigation, and if Henry Schein confirms that consumer information was leaked, the company will be required to send out data breach letters to anyone who was impacted.
Henry Schein is a retail company based out of Melville, New York that provides healthcare products and services to dental, medical and animal healthcare practices in 32 countries. The company is publicly traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol “HSIC.”
